This is a national programme, providing training opportunities to help self-employed and/or employees deal with the basic skill demands of the workplace.

Funded by the Irish Government through the Department of Education and managed locally by Tipperary ETB, the types of courses offered include:

  • Internet,
  • Email,
  • Word Processing,
  • Spreadsheet,
  • Personal and Interpersonal Skills,
  • Professional Development,
  • Workplace Communications,
  • English Language,
  • Herd Registration courses for Farmers, etc.

There is no charge for SFW. Courses can be adapted to employees needs and run onsite/offsite at flexible times. Courses may be either accredited or non-accredited.

This initiative allows employees to upskill or reskill. It supports employees in all parts of the workforce whose skill level is below level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). Training up to Level 5 is fully funded and 70% funded at Level 6.

STA is available to all employees, but priority is given to the following employees:

  • Employees with skills below Level 5 and/or,
  • Employees who are classified as vulnerable, i.e:
    • Either at risk of economic displacement and/or,
    • Age 50+ and/or,
    • Currently in a lower skilled job.

STA courses include:

  • Supervisory Management,
  • Barista Skills,
  • Multimedia for Social Media (Adobe Specialist),
  • Microsoft Technology Associate and Azure.

Explore is targeted at providing lifelong learning for those over 35 years of age in manufacturing employment.

The programme is funded and run in association with Regional Skills for Work and aims to upskill employees in technology and IT, and to improve productivity and workplace innovation.

The course runs two-days off-site with a specialist facilitator working on-site over seven weeks to develop onsite systems to enhance methods of work or productivity. Projects are developed in conjunction with local management. Courses are non-accredited but progression to other courses is discussed.

Tipperary ETB’s Tipperary FET College supports employers and apprenticeships by providing apprenticeship training at our modern, well-equipped training centres.

An apprenticeship is a programme of structured education and training which combines learning in the workplace with learning in an education or training centre.

Work Placement

Are you an employer with a work placement opportunity? 

Many Tipperary ETB programmes include work experience provision, where learners earn valuable experience in work environments as part of their course. These placements are beneficial for the learner and the employer, so please get in touch if you’re interested in providing opportunities.
