Complaints
We regard student complaints as an important source of feedback so that we can improve our services or the way we do things. If you have an issue, we encourage you to talk to your tutor first. If you are not happy after meeting your tutor, you can make a formal complaint by following the:

Your complaint will be investigated by a person or team who were not part of the original issue or decision.
Note: the above procedure does not cover student complaints against ETB staff members.
Student complaints - against a ETB staff member
For student complaints against a staff member
You need to use a different procedure: Procedure for processing complaints made by parents/guardians of students or adult learner(s) currently enrolled in an ETB School/Centre against a staff member employed by an Education and Training Board(ETB).
If you are a student aged 16 or 17 years, you must go to your coordinator or manager to get advice on what you can do next, or email [email protected].
Student appeals
Appeals
If you are unhappy with a decision that has been taken about you, you may be able to appeal this decision. Types of appeals you can make include:
- An appeal to a decision regarding entry into a FET programme,
- An appeal of your assessment grade, or the assessment process,
- An appeal if you were not granted reasonable accommodation or other supports,
- An appeal against an academic misconduct sanction,
- Other.
Appeals process
- There are some grounds you may need to show to have your appeal considered. These grounds depend on the type of appeal you are making.
- Your centre staff will advise you of the process and any deadlines you need to be aware of. Please submit your appeal on time and as soon as possible.
- You may also need to include any supporting information you have.
How your appeal will be managed
- An Appeals Committee will be set up to investigate the matter.
- The Committee will be a person or team who were not part of the original decision taken.
- The Committee will investigate and evaluate the information and make a decision.
- You will receive the outcome (decision) once they have completed their investigation.
