Sounds of Semple

Sounds of Semple is a two-year Music Generation Tipperary project, which involved participation from 200 primary school children from St Colmcille’s and St Joseph’s national schools in Templemore.

Under the directorship of Dr Aidan O’Donnell, Director of Music Generation Tipperary, the children worked with Peter O’Toole of The Hot House Flowers and music educator Niamh Fenton, to reimagine the game of hurling into a form of musical expression.

The song and accompanying music video were recorded at the iconic Semple Stadium in Thurles. The video was also played on the big screen to a packed ground at half-time of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship match between Tipperary and Cork in May 2024.
