The Training and Education section of Knockanrawley Resource Centre, Tipperary Town are hosting their annual Learners’ Awards ceremony on Wednesday, 29th November at 7.30pm in the Centre.

Seventeen learners, who participated in the Knockanrawley Information for Training and Employment (KITE) programme, will be presented with certificates, having achieved either a Level 4 QQI Major award in General Learning or a Component Certificate.  Eleven learners who participated in a Tipperary Education and Training Board funded Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) course in Beekeeping, QQI Level 5 will also be presented with certificates.

In addition to the above accomplishments, learners will be presented with certificates for achievements in Cardiac First Response and the Food Safety Qualification – HACCP.

The overall aim of the KITE programme, which is funded by the Tipperary Education and Training Board, is to provide learners who, for various reasons, have disengaged from mainstream education, with an opportunity to achieve a qualification to improve their employability skills so that they can either enter the job market or continue with their education.

A further benefit of the programme is to provide a forum for participants to firstly, examine and secondly, try to overcome obstacles which have prevented them from entering the labour market or further education.  Examples of such obstacles may be literacy or personal issues which have been barriers for them in the past.  Learners are afforded the opportunity to conduct their learning journey in a supported environment which Knockanrawley Resource Centre provides.  Learners can avail of literacy support, counselling, family therapy, childcare, addiction services, domestic violence services and the chance to engage with other community groups – all provided by the Centre.  While developing their competence level in employability skills, by undertaking modules including Culinary Operations, IT, Personal Effectiveness and Work Experience, learners are supported in arriving at the best possible decision that suits their lives and the lives of their families.

Knockanrawley Resource Centre looks forward to welcoming the learners and their families on the 29th November to celebrate their achievements.
