Tipperary Education & Training Board (TETB) Training Services provides its first Traineeship in The Business Innovation Centre, Stafford Road, Nenagh.   Present at the opening of the programme was Patrick O’Sullivan Senior Training Officer, Matthew Ryan Training Services Manager from TETB Training Services and Glen Anderson Director and David Sheehan Contract Training Manager of Irish College Training Centre (ICTC).

The programme is targeted at those who are unemployed and wishing to retrain or gain new skills in the accountancy field. Nineteen students from the North Tipperary area were successful in gaining a place on the programme after completing an interview and aptitude test to assess their suitability for the programme.  The provision of Traineeships is a requirement under SOLAS Further Education and Training Strategy.

Irish College Training Centre (ICTC), in conjunction with TETB, developed the new and highly innovative Certified Accountancy Pathway (CAP) programme. This programme provides trainees a unique opportunity to study for their ACCA accredited qualification whilst in employment. The programme is unique and specifically designed so that all suitable and eligible trainees enrolled on the programme will be placed in either practice or industry.  The programme is for 52 weeks, commencing with 12 weeks in class followed by 40 weeks of which 3 days are on-the-job-training and 2 days preparing for the ACCA examinations. In the first 12 weeks the students will take 3 Level 5 QQI modules.

Trainees are offered a unique opportunity to complete the ACCA accredited qualification, which can be achieved in 12 months – enabling trainees to establish their careers more easily through the guaranteed work placement and therefore more opportunities of permanent positions.  On completion of the course Trainees will hold an ACCA Diploma in Accounting along with a Level 5 QQI in Bookkeeping and Payroll putting them on the path to qualify as a Certified Accountant in the future

ACCA is the world’s largest accountancy body and offers globally recognised qualifications, which many Irish employers seek. TETB are pleased to announce and provide this fantastic and unique opportunity. The ACCA accredited programme offers trainees a flexible and convenient way of completing a globally recognised qualification, with computer based exams that can be structured to suit the individual trainees.

Irish College Training Centre (ICTC) is interested in hearing from employers, who may wish to avail of this training facility by taking on a trainee for the 40-week period.  During this time an allowance is paid to the trainee by TETB Training Services.

TETB Training Services are also running a Traineeship in ‘Cleanroom and Packaging Operations’ in Clonmel and intend to offer both these Traineeship programmes in 2017 in Nenagh and in other towns in Tipperary.
