Tipperary Education and Training Board (TETB) has continued to support Communities, Employers and Learners which have been impacted COVID-19. Due to the global pandemic, there has been an immediate shift away from classroom learning to online learning.  TETB and learners across the county have embraced the change and have quickly adapted to new platforms of education delivery.  These methods shift how education and training providers will upskill learners in the future.  Greater investments will be made in education and training technology and learners will develop the skills to use these technologies and platforms to progress their careers and create business opportunities. Learners from TETB’s Multimedia & Social Media online course shown above have spoken about the benefits of the online provision.  Learners express the enormous benefits the training has provided them;

“I found the online training brilliant, the zoom classes worked really well and felt the tuition was as good as you’d get in a classroom. I would definitely encourage this method of training as it’s easy to do from a home or work setting. The tutorials and videos on Moodle were a great way to revisit what we did and I feel would be necessary for online training”.

Claire Kennedy.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the course and the online learning. Moodle was great and being able to assess the recorded sessions and tutorials online was very helpful and necessary to use as training during the weeks.”

Yvonne Power.

“Yvonne & I feel this course will hugely benefit the Sean Kelly Sports Centre;Doing this course has allowed us to up skill in a very important area, we can now advertise our services in a fun and effective way. Before this we were not reaping the benefits of social media and feel we can stay contacted with our current customers and reach new and potential ones. Thanking you.”

Claire & Yvonne.

“….I would never have got the chance or even looked into doing a course of any sort because I am self-employed and work full time (I felt I never would have had the time) but doing the Online has changed my mind and having the classes recorded and being able to replay them was a great help. I applied because I was closed down due to COVID19 and it gave me the opportunity which I am delighted for (a positive from a negative ). It opened my eyes to the fact that it is possible to do a course Online and it is something I would consider again.”

Elaine Ryan Walsh.

“It has opened a whole new world for me and it is helping my business.  I can now create beautiful adverts to advertise….  I highly recommend it to anybody for their business. It is boosting mine and makes my adverts more interesting!”

Sophie Imarzouk.

What is an online course?

Online courses often referred to as distance or eLearning, is a mode of learning that allows the participant to study an education/training course without attending the traditional classroom-based setting. During this type of education/training you can expect communications with tutors and other students to come via email, electronic forums, videoconferencing, instant messaging, and other similar types of computer-based interactions. Online course delivery can often include a learning platform or training system to produce a virtual classroom. Benefits of studying online include:

  • Less expensive as accommodation/travel costs etc. reduced
  • Flexibility as you can adapt a study schedule to your own needs/existing responsibilities
  • Stay home, stay safe and still upskill
